I think the prevailing thoughts going into this drawing were straying from the expectations of copying the resource, and improving my color.
For the sketch, I tried to go for a weird free sketch where I just drew without stopping and only having momentary glances. The result was very admirable, and while it's not as different as I imagined, it's a first step to branching away from directly replicating the show down to the last detail.
The color here was a continuing experiment with using the multiple and lumi&shade effects to my advantage. For Steven, it came out beautifully. Bismuth's was a bit half-baked, sadly. In the end, I think I've found a comfortability in my coloring style where I start with base colors and apply shadow and lighting. I mean, it's the norm for some, but my earlier ways were a lot more convoluted.
